Hockey Sunday, Valentines Day, and Laptop Speakers

Ah, damn, lost another game. Yup, got shutout again. Only this time it was only 2-0. I only got a -1 in the whole game, lucky me. However, moO came to the game and I STILL didn’t score. I had about 3 would-be scoring chances but something went amiss and couldn’t convert it. The first one was a light shot through a lot of traffic and it amazingly went through everyone’s legs, but hit the goalie’s stick. The second was a dump and chase into the right corner and I got to it first cut a tight left to the goal and ended up cutting to close to the goalie and he stopped it easily. The third try at a goal I was on the right side of the ice again had a small breakaway and was hooked down and drew a penalty. Damn, I don’t want a penalty, I want a goal. I drew 2 penalties that game. The actual first penalty was when I was pushed in our end, then I did a cool scissor take down with my legs, LOL nice to use what I learned in TKD in hockey. I didn’t get a penalty for that. =) Somewhere in the first period I was at the other team’s blue line and in front of an opposing team player. He tried to cleat the puck from his end, and I put out my hand to block it. Yeah, I blocked it, but it hit my wrist. Now, I have a small bruise where the puck hit me. It was a cool turnover though… I was a little disappointed with the team, I noticed most of us weren’t really in the game and kinda glided around the ice. Instead of skating hard to the puck, we’d watch it come to us only to find it getting taken away. I’m sure we could have done much better. We WERE missing a few people that game, but that’s no excuse, the other team only had 2 subs!

This weekend I’ll be gone from Friday until Tuesday. I’ll be up north in Washington. I up there to watch my brother’s ice hockey tournament. So, I won’t be able to see what happened in my own games, but I wish them luck. Man I gotta find a way to workout a lot this week and next week to make up for not playing hockey this week…

So, finally I got off my butt and ordered replacement internal speakers for my laptop. I just put ’em in and it sounds SOOOOOO much better than those damn blown speakers I had in them. I accidentally put in a BASS competition CD in and played it causing my speakers to blow. Mental note: NO MORE BASS MP3s IN LAPTOP. Now it sounds GREAT again. Now, is there anything I can do about repairing my USB and/or PS2 ports…

Cold House

So, THAT’S why it’s so friggin’ cold in my damn house. The heater in the house was broken. I found it odd that I had to wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants to sleep. I thought my parents were just cheap and got pissed at the electricity bill again… Well, maybe that too… But, we aren’t getting central air yet, 🙁

All-Stars and Hockey Sunday

Wow, the NHL All-Star game was pretty cool, it was pretty even throughout the whole game, score ending regulation at 5 a piece. Viewers witnessed the first overtime shoot-out in an All-Star game. In that same game, a last year rookie, Dany Heatley, broke an all-time NHL record of youngest player to score a hat trick (he beat Gretzky by, I think, a day.), and tied the record for most goals in one game (that being 4 goals). Because of an NHL ruling, Heatley JUST missed tying Mario Lemieux’s All-Star record of six points in a game. He scored 4 goals and 1 assist for the five points, and the 6th point would have been in the overtime shoot-out, but League Officials ruled the final score to be 6-5 in favor of NHL WEST, instead of the shoot-out goal score of 8-6. Oddly, Heatley scored the only goal for the East in the overtime shoot-out. Ah, good times. Now we know who’s the bestest coast! Another oddly, I thought it’d be the East…

On to more local Hockey news… Thus, ends our NON-losing streak as we took on the undefeated team in our league. We ended the game with a humiliating score of 6-0. I managed to stay even in my +/- until like the last few minutes of the game then they scored a goal making it a -1. Blarg =P <^> I managed to keep my wind for most of the game. I even was a starter right winger! I stayed on a few seconds longer than I should have on many shifts ’cause I couldn’t find a good opportunity to get off the ice when my shift was over. LOL, I did manage to draw 2 penalties, one was an interference call, when I had a good sight at a shot on goal when I was tripped/pushed from behind, and the other was when I was at my blue line when a guy basically skated through me and slashed me. YAY ME. I had a few scoring chances this game despite our failure. I few stupid wussy shots. One REALLY mean slapshot. Obviously, nothing but goalie. I had a really good play where I skated up the puck alone and one defenseman, got stuck in the corner passed it to the other winger who had a good shot on goal but got goalie pads. I REALLY thought he was going to score, and my stupidity told me to stay where I was instead of following up his shot. Of course Murphy’s law is NOT my friend. After my winger’s shot the puck was inches from his far post waiting to be poked in. Where was I? No where near the goal. I just gave up an easy goal. I gotta remember for next time, follow up, damnit. It’s not like it’s a new thing to me. I’ve been told this for YEARS for EVERY sport I’ve played; be it soccer, baseball, bowling, and even martial arts. FOLLOW THROUGH!!! BAH, damnit. Next game I’ll score, but, I need a bigger audience than my parents. But, it’s nice that they come watch.

Hair?

In case I didn’t tell anyone, if you remember me from high school, you might recall a hairdo that was in with some Asian guys. Yes, I sported it back then. And, hell, I’ve even changed my hair to it now. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Well, no longer is it the days of the F.O.B. hair. Out with the old and in with the… older. LOL. Maybe I can bring it back. Too bad with this hair it makes me look more Viet. I’m not tho, mind you. The good thing is, the visual effect makes my face look thinner. So I dropped a few pounds from my face, yay. Still don’t know what I’m talking about? Find a ’96 Lynbrook H.S. yearbook and find out for yourself. I’m sure I have a Senior pic archived somewhere. Or, just stick around maybe you’ll notice it on my webcam, if i ever decide to use it.

Sick + Hockey Monday & ”The Getaway”.

RIGHT after I left moO’s house I felt my throat getting really sore, like REALLY fast. Usually, if I get a sore throat it’s usually in the morning to give it a little time to come, but this hit me hard and fast. I didn’t know how I was going to survive tonight’s game…

We took the lead really early in the game, but soon after it was taken away. I hate it when it happens. For the most part of the game it was all even up 1-1. I managed to get another 3min penalty for slashing. I took my stick and hit the other player’s stick, and I was called for that. My stick wasn’t even high up in the air to get a good hit on the stick. I don’t even believe that he dropped his stick. So, I don’t know how I got that penalty.

But, the highlight of the game was when there was a REAL fight in front of our net. You almost NEVER see one of these in an adult league like ours. But it was totally NHL quality, INCLUDING BLOOD! 🙂 Too bad it was our guy who spilt it. Sucks that he’s suspended for a game for fighting.

Somewhere in the 3rd period, moO came and watched. YAY. But, I still didn’t score. My excuse is: 1. she came late and I was already tired and B. I’m sick. Harhar 🙂 My theory still isn’t flawed

I was a little worried we had to settle for a tie. It sucks when the whole game is tied at 1-1, or any number. But in the last couple minutes our 1st line takes it to the net and scores a goal creating a lead 1-2. Shortly after the other team pulls their goalie allowing us to score the ‘nail in the coffin”. Oh, it’s beautiful!

Basically, I was pretty much useless this game, being sick and all. I did manage to pump enough adrenaline to keep moving though. But, I felt it bad when I sat on the bench idle. I could feel myself kind of dosing off. But, hell, I’m not going to miss a game just ’cause I got a little sore throat.

So, Saturday, Shia and I played a little ”Getaway” on the PS2. It’s seems like a cheap wanna-be ”Grand Theft Auto,” in a way yes, and in others no. My first impression of the game was that it completely sucked. There was no fancy GUI, no controller setup, no map. You’re stuck in London alone to find your Wife’s killers and Son’s kidnappers. The way this differs from GTA3 is that it follows a story, completely. The way it’s really similar is that you kill tons of people and steal cars when the one you just wrecked is inadequate. I hate games that don’t let you change the control, ESPECIALLY the damn vertical axis. I don’t use reversed, I like having up up and down to be down. I’m not flying a plane here, I’m shooting a gun. What, when I point a gun at a something, do I think move my hand down to point it upwards? No, up is up and down is down. Stupid games. However, after figuring out some of the little quirks of the game (one important thing is to lean up against a wall to replenish health) I was hooked. I hope this isn’t what I’ll be playing with my days of nothingness. Lately, I’ve been catching myself trying to speak in the British accent. It’s kinda funny, kinda sad in a way.

Network Adapter Woes

Ok, so I decided to forget the 3rd party USB Network adapter and just go with the Sony PS2 Adapter NOT from Toys-R-Us. I bought it at Electronic Boutique for the regular price + $5 for a damn extended warranty that allows me to exchange it up to 4 times within a certain amount of time if it ever breaks. Even if it never breaks again, I decided to get the warranty because with my luck, Murphy’s Law never works in my favor. So I brought it home and installed it, and so far it works without a hitch, that’s the good thing. The BAD thing is: my Socom headset stopped working now. So, today I called up Sony to have the old network adapter and the headset fixed. Luckily, they’re both under warranty. So, I can just send it to San Mateo and within 7-10 business days I have it fixed, YAY. So, now WTF am I supposed to do without a Socom headset for 7-10 business days?
