I’m actually sick of this rain. I usually like rain, but I’d like to see some sunshine soon. I can’t ride my bike!!! Well, I can, but I’d get rained on and I wouldn’t want to get rain spots on my nice pretty new jacket that I’ve had for a year LOL. BAH.

Finals = YUM! [Pics]
Ok, I should be posting every day, but I’m so tired after class and I don’t always have my USB cord for my camera to upload it to my computer and then to my server. So, every so often will be ok HA.

Pretty Oranges [Pics]
I gave Shia a sneak peak ’cause I’m such a nice guy. LOL. However, seeing all of my creations in person is SOOO much better. Even so, seeing it in person one may overlook the tiny details put in some of the work. Case in point, my next delight.

It looks like a simple cake with some decorations on it. It is, sorta! But I like the tiny and very subtle detail that was put on the oranges. It’s really hard to see, but the oranges have tiny dimples like their larger, real counterparts. But, how can a simple ball of marzipan turn into a tiny orange? Sorry, trade secrets =P But it looks pretty huh, heh.
Pastries Galore [Pics]
I must apologize for not posting; my laptop has once again been out of commission for the past however long. But, a fresh format later, I

EA?
I’m kinda sad, EA changed their intro slogan before the game starts, not that I’ll be buying any EA games soon. Actually, it doesn’t say anything, but shows the EA logo. I guess after all the layoffs they won’t be “challenging everything.” LOL
Breads and Danishes [Pics]
I decided to take a break from failing to research my stupid Danish pastry paper, more rants on that later… So, below is my Swedish Limpa Rye that I made yesterday. I’m not a huge fan of rye, but it sure does smell good.

Below is my San Francisco Sourdough Bread made from a starter dough that was made last Thursday, I think. I believe there’s a crazy sour in SF that’s like a hundred years old. Yuck! or YUM rather, ha! So, notice the cool slice patterns below. I rock! LOL

Below is Stacy’s crazy Sunburst Braid. I won’t reveal exactly how its done, because it’s crazy uber. But, it is made more or less the same way as my other braids only slightly more complicated. Gotta love the ball in the middle. Reminde me of a knot I learned in boy scouts. I forget how it’s done but if I recall correctly we called it a Monkey’s Fist. NOTE: I did NOT make the below product, I’m just showing how crazy it is.

So, back to my rants. =P This section’s paper is on danishes of different European countries and any time I use a search engine like Google or Yahoo! I get the whole scandal with the Islamic satirical comic and that whole related story. I’ve been completely unsuccessful in finding the right keyword(s) to yield the correct results. I’ve checked several printed books, including my text, to no avail. I guess I shouldn’t complain. My brother had to learn Excel for one of his classes. LOL
Today, there was a job fair and such at school. One of the seminars was a resume/interview workshop and somehow we got on the topic of the FIVE taste sense. Yes, five. When discussed in the classroom what those 5 were (salty, sour, sweet, bitter, and umami) Robert and I misheard something in the last one and it sounded more like it started with a ”P” and changed a few letters in it. I’ll let your imagination figure it out.
Knots and Braids [Pics]
No, Adam hasn’t turned into a girl. At least not more so, =P… I’m talking about bread knots and braids. Yesterday we did knots and brioche, and today the braids. I have to say the dough stuff of mine turned our pretty well. However, the end product was less than desireable. The knots got burned, yet another thing in the trash. =( They were so pretty too. As for the braids, they didn’t bake pretty. HEH, I woulda taken a picture, but I forgot. Hrm, apparently I forgot to take a picture of the brioche too.

It’s All About the Hamiltons, Baby [Vid] [Edit]
So, if you stopped watching SNL like I did, you’ll be happy to know you’re proably not missing much. But, in case there’s a good sketch you’d like to see, we have the great Internet to help us out. The other day my brother showed me this SNL video on his video Ipod. It’s called Lazy Sunday with Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell. So, umm watch the video, ’cause I can’t explain it any better.
Edited: 2/18 7:45AM ::: So, apparently not everyone understands my humor, or satirical rap for that matter. Let me explain further why this video is so funny to me. First, what rapper would rap about the Chronicles of Narnia? I don’t see 50 Cent or the whole G-Unit rapping about Harry Potter. Second, rapper’s don’t boast about dropping Hamiltons. We all know it’s about the Benjamins. That’s why it’s so funny. I have to get me a stack of 10s… Third, who the heck raps about the movie theater trivia? Have you heard anyone from the Wu Tang Clan drop names like Mathew Perry, or rap about the movie The Notebook or Ghost?! I mean, come on, think of how much more fun rap would be if they all rapped about Google Maps, Mapquest or Yahoo! Maps. Some people don’t understand my humor. =(

Bear Claws and Chef! [Pics]
Ugh, today, first thing in the morning Chef snaps at me. I shouldn’t take it personal, and I should get used to it. (you might have heard of heard of all of the asshole chefs that just yell at you because your shoelace is tied wrong.) But, it was a little uncharacteristic of him. He told me to get “about a gallon of water,” he didn’t tell me what it was for or anything. So looking around the room for anything larger than a gallon, I ask him “what would you like me to put it in?” He said something like, ” I don’t care, stick it in your hat, in your pockets.” So I just grabbed the biggest bowl and started measuring a gallon from the quart measuring cups. He yells at me again, “you don’t need to measure.” Again, he didn’t tell me what it was for. I then find out it was to fill the proof box (big contraption where one would proof doughs). I felt like I was measuring water to put into the ice trays. (I guess would be the equiv.) But still, I had no idea what the water was for, so I don’t think what I did was wrong. =P… Remember this was before 7AM, before class even started. Way to start the morning off.
Everyone knows Adam is a picky eater. However, me being in a new career track I’d like to keep a more open mind; to a certain extent of course. The first plate from the culinary class couldn’t have been worse. Take all of the things Adam likes least and stick it on a plate, make it look pretty, and that’s what they brought in. I can’t exactly recall what it was, but I know it consisted of portabello mushrooms and bell peppers. Later, there was a gathering in the banquet room of German food. I had to take a look. And I think you’d all be proud that dispite playing a little Fear Factor, Adam ate rabbit! YES, I said rabbit. Some might think I’m crazy, rabbit is nothing. But if you know Adam, you know I used to never eat anything out of the ”Adam ordinary.” So, yeah, that was my day.
Speaking of rabbits, we (my lab partner and I) managed to pull a rabbit out or our hats. Dispite our puff pastry dough completely disappearing we managed to get all of our required pastries out. We borrowed some dough while making another batch, so it was a little cheating. The end results were pretty snazzy looking. It’s a little fuzzy looking but it’s a big bear claw and the fruit filled ones are puff pastry diamonds. I brought theses babies to my mom’s work shortly after school as they’d be freshest then, they disappeared quickly.
